"Nude Betsy Ross with Flag and Large Phallic Symbol"

14" x 20"

Whatever the circumstances surrounding this model, she certainly does not look very comfortable to be brazenly lounging around as nude as the day she was born. Since we are given no clues as to these mysterious circumstances, I have speculated that this is a portrait of Betsy Ross, painted just after her completion of the first U.S. flag. Note the way she so forcefully clutches the blue fabric while anchoring the red and white striped fabric to the floor with her right foot. Clearly this is a woman relishing the completion of a long and arduous journey sewing her fingers to the bone. I'm not quite sure why old Mrs. Ross would want to strip after completing her historic task, but it may have something to do with subliminal messages given off by the unidentifiable object in the background.
