Diamond, 18" x 24"
While not my favorite work in the "pet/animal" genre the artist's painterly style is quite interesting. Portions of the foreground resemble many of Van Gogh's later works while the green background has been layered so thickly that the cat appears to glow phosphorescently. Once again it was the painter's signature which initially caught my eye. Is the artist's name "Diamond"? Has the furry feline been monikered "Diamond" because of it's brilliant white coat? Yet another mystery that we may never know the answer to but which will undoubtedly continue to engage art historians in heated discussions for years to come..... .
