R.A. Nicholson has been working as a self-taught artist for the past 40 years. Initially working with house paints and scraps of cardboard, Nicholson eventually moved on to bigger and better art supplies. While many of Nicholson's newer works do not quite fit into the "Thrift Store Art" aesthetic, his early '70's output perfectly captures the spirit of the genre. Whether referencing the ubiquitous 1960's "big-eye" portraits of Keane, pushing the boundaries of abstract surrealism, or experimenting with new styles and techniques, Nicholson is a unique and talented artist whose work I am proud to introduce in this Gallery.
