"Swan Lake"

43" x 29"

I find it hard to believe, but this painting must have once hung in a gallery on either Park Avenue or Rodeo Drive. Neatly glued to the back of the frame is a small sticker revealing the painting's origin: Van Pelt Galleries Los Angeles - New York. In spite of the piece's "blue blooded" lineage and the artist's certain formal training, the ballerinas are rendered quite primatively. However, a seasoned art observer will surely pay scant attention to the figures in the foreground as his eyes delight in the rich, surrealist landscape behind. The unknown artist must certainly be forgiven his crude attempt at capturing the human form in light of the majestic portrait of nature which dominates this work.
